American Mortgage & Realty Corp. (AMR) is one of the Midwest’s leading privately held commercial mortgage banking companies. We provide financing as well as consulting and advisory services for all types of commercial and multifamily real estate properties on a national basis through construction loans, permanent loans, forward commitments and private placement bonds for “credit tenant” investment real estate transactions as well as real estate equity investments for our clients. Our clients include institutional owners of commercial real estate, investor groups and individual property owners located throughout the United States.
AMR operates on a nationwide basis and funds its real estate financings through institutional lenders including life insurance companies, banks, conduits and other sources of real estate capital. AMR is an exclusive loan correspondent for twenty major life insurance companies and banks. We finance all major commercial property types as described above and we have completed in excess of $3 billion in transaction volume since the Company’s founding in 2001.
In addition to our commercial mortgage banking activity, AMR is Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies’ exclusive Investment Advisor responsible for managing the company’s mortgage loan portfolios. In this role, AMR reports directly to Indiana Farm Bureau’s Investment Division and is responsible for originating all of the Company’s new mortgage investments and for managing and administering its mortgage loan portfolios. AMR conducts this activity under a long-term Management Agreement with Indiana Farm Bureau. This agreement has been in place since early 2002 when AMR hired Indiana Farm Bureau’s Mortgage Loan Staff and AMR became responsible for this portion of Indiana Farm Bureau’s investment operations.
AMR maintains a fully staffed Mortgage Loan Servicing Division that administers and services a commercial mortgage loan portfolio in excess of $1 billion for AMR’s twenty correspondent lenders.
AMR is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana with Regional Production Offices in Indianapolis, Indiana and Southern California.
We welcome the opportunity to speak with you at any time regarding your real estate financing and real estate investment needs.
127 Years of Combined Experience:
John O. Leonard is Chairman and the founding shareholder of AMR, which was formed in July of 2001. Although AMR was a start-up company, John contributed a substantial cash investment to evidence his commitment to the new Company and also provide a strong balance sheet to support AMR’s operations. In addition to this, John brought the Company 29 years of experience in the mortgage banking and real estate investment fields. AMR’s operations enjoyed immediate success due to the confidence, trust and loyalty which John developed over many years involving a diverse group of insurance company lenders and other institutional funding sources, combined with the continued loyalty of his well-established group of borrowers and developers. AMR’s success under John’s leadership is evidenced by the fact that the Company was not only profitable from its start but has enjoyed 12 consecutive years of profitability. Over this period, John and the other members of AMR have developed an extensive network of additional clients seeking commercial mortgage banking services and real estate equity investments. Prior to forming AMR, John was President of RealAmerica Mortgage Corp. from December of 1987 to June of 2001. During John’s tenure, RealAmerica developed seventeen new correspondent lenders and the Company completed approximately $1.8 billion of commercial real estate financings and investment real estate transactions. Prior to this, John spent 15 years working in commercial real estate finance and investments for American United Life Insurance Company and The Lafayette Life Insurance Companies. John holds a BS in Economics & Finance and an MSBA in Finance, both from Indiana University.
Timothy A. Mattingly, President, is also a shareholder in AMR and joined the Company in April of 2002 when AMR entered into its Investment Management Agreement with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies and AMR became the investment manager for Indiana Farm Bureau’s Mortgage Loan Operations. Tim has over 12 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, and has completed over $1 billion of commercial real estate financings with AMR’s correspondent lenders since joining the Company. Tim has been very instrumental in building AMR’s Indianapolis Office and has consistently helped AMR achieve the positive results we have delivered as the Investment Manager for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies. Tim holds a BS in Agricultural Economics from The University of Illinois and an MBA in Finance from Butler University’s School of Business.
Jason R. Krcmery, CFA, Vice President, joined AMR in 2012 after spending 5 years at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies where he worked as a Portfolio Manager, responsible for co-managing a $2 billion fixed income portfolio. Prior to this, Jason spent four years as a Portfolio Analyst for McDonnell Investment Management in Chicago, Illinois. Jason holds a BS in Business Administration from Loyola University and recently received his MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
Ryan S. Powell, Assistant Vice President, joined AMR in November of 2007 after completing his bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Bloomington. Since joining AMR, Ryan has worked as a Mortgage Loan Analyst supporting the efforts of AMR’s Indianapolis office using his extensive knowledge in Excel modeling and Adobe products. Ryan has recently completed his Masters in Accounting at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Noni S. Nierenberg, Regional Manager/Southern California, joined AMR in 2011 and has worked in the commercial real estate finance field since 1983. Noni has arranged mortgage financings for all types of commercial real estate located in various regions of the United States. Noni started her career in Washington, DC and is now based in the beautiful wine country region of Southern California. Noni holds a BA Degree from Simmons College and also holds a Masters in City & Regional Planning from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Angela K. Biddle, Vice President – Administration, joined AMR in September of 2001 shortly after the Company’s founding. Angie began her career as a Loan Servicing Representative handling investor reporting, accounting, and loan administration for AMR’s correspondent loan servicing portfolio. Angie became Assistant Vice President of Loan Servicing & Administration for AMR in May of 2007 and in June of 2012, Angie became Vice President of Administration for AMR. In her new role, Angie handles all of AMR’s administrative functions and coordinates all of the Company’s loan closings for the financings originated by AMR’s Fort Wayne and Indianapolis offices.
Rheanna R. Putt, Assistant Vice President Loan Servicing & Administration, joined AMR in June of 2012 and leads AMR’s loan servicing operations. When Rhea joined AMR she had 10 years of prior experience handling loan administration for Star Financial Bank, where she managed the servicing of a $660 million residential loan portfolio having responsibility for investor payment processing, investor reporting and accounting and investor portfolio management. Rhea has been most successful in taking over AMR’s loan servicing functions and is also pursuing her BS in Business Administration from Indiana Institute of Technology.
